Josephine Davies

Scottish saxophonist Josephine brings a wide range of enticing influences to her playing, from Coltrane and Dewey Redman to Eddie Harris and Chris Potter. While still a student, she was a winner of the 1999 Perrier Young Jazz Award, as a member of trumpeter Tom Allan's quintet. Since then she's performed and recorded with the London Jazz Orchestra, Gerard Presencer, Laurence Cottle, Sax Appeal, Matt Wates sextet and NYJO.

Robbie is another Loop stalwart; he also works with the Alcyona Mick Quintet and his own band Dog Soup, which explores the sound world of Bitches Brew era Miles. Another blistering keyboard talent to emerge recently, Ross has played here with Dylan Howe's Unity 4 (on organ) and Renato d'Aeillo (on piano). Along with many other fine bands, Dave is part of the Christine Tobin Group, which delivered such a ravishing performance here in April; Nick works with Ross in Brandon Allen's trio and quintet.

Outhouse

Outhouse

Outhouse grew out of a series of improvised music sessions, based in a North London, erm, outhouse...

They've chosen their open and exposed line-up to, as they say, "...enable the music to be continuously deconstructed and rebuilt, aiming to blur the line between improvised and pre-written melodies, grooves and forms." Right on! The band has played in several of the South's finest venues, including the Vortex, the Oxford, Jazz in the Round and Jazz Café. They have also established a collaborative project with Wolof percussionists from The Gambia and Senegal.

They are another formative Loop Collective band; Robin also appears with Curve, and Mark with the Alcyona Mick Quintet. Johnny is also a member of Robbie Robson's Dog Soup, while Dave has performed with Blink, and Arnie Somogyi's Ambulance.
