Sara Oschlag Vocals Jason Henson Guitar Dan Sheppard Double bass
Sara's band features three of the hardest working professionals in the area with a wealth of experience. All three perform regularly together in Brighton's finest swing combo, Rockin' in Rhythm.
Sara is originally from Copenhagen, coming to the UK to study jazz in Chichester. After completing her course, she has become an established, popular performer around London and the south, with an engaging and accomplished approach to the classic repertoire.
Claire Martin has said of Sara "… a unique and individual voice making interesting material effortlessly her own. A singer with a natural musician's ear and huge potential …"
Sara performs in the duo Indigo with guitarist Simon Brewin, the Oschlag-Henson Duo, salsa outfit Caliente and her own quartet; she is currently preparing material for her debut album.
Dan's bass playing has become a crucial presence on the local scene and beyond, with several years spent as a member of US flautist and saxophonist Lawrence Jones' Brighton Jazz Allstars. He's performed at Ronnie Scott's with US vocal legend Jimmy Scott and his band The Jazz Expressions, and with John Etheridge, Bobby Wellins, Alan Barnes and Bobby Durham.
Jason also studied at jazz at Chichester, having begun the guitar at the age of five; he and Dan appear on three CDs by Rockin' in Rhythm. He has played a wide range of classic material in duos with Piers Clark; Jason and Dan play acoustic Gypsy swing with guitarist and noted exponent Jonny Hepbir, in their band Acoustic Dregs. He's also performed in Charlotte Glasson's combo Escapade.
