Liane Carroll

Liane Carroll by David Sinclair

Continuing to be one of the zestiest performers on any jazz stage, Liane's style gives a huge range of soul, jazz and pop material a unique stamp.

Having been enjoyed by many live audiences for years, she has earned several jazz awards, including two gongs from the BBC Jazz Awards; she also took the prize for Best Female Vocalist in the inaugural Ronnie Scott's Awards.

Her recordings for Splashpoint include 2005's Standard Issue and Slow Down. Her trio also released a live DVD from their date at the Purcell Room last year.

Don Weller & Bobby Wellins

Two genuine giants of the music together on the same stage represent a dream for jazz audiences. Bobby and Don straddle the decades of modern jazz as true "saxophone colossi".

Their twin talents do bring echoes of the original colossus Mr. Rollins, though both bring utterly distinctive voices that blend seamlessly; Bobby is known for his searching Scottish tone and touches of Getz and Lester, while Don brings the robustness of Sonny and Parkerish bop.

Their recent quintet recording Nine Songs shows them at the top of their game, joined as here by a trio of top UK talent.
