Gilad Atzmon Reeds Frank Harrison Piano Yaron Stavi Bass Eddie Hick Drums
Our last gig for 2011 includes a significant musician from the first. Gilad was here in January, adding hugely to the Brighton debut of charismatic vocalist Sarah Gillespie; no slouch in the charisma department himself, Gilad continues to make his mark around music and beyond. His performing skills on a variety of reeds have surpassed regular virtuosity, as he continues to surprise and delight with his explorations of the jazz canon, Eastern and European folk styles and their occasional collisions. He maintains a relentless schedule of performance and publishing; his recreation of the Charlie Parker with Strings recording has toured widely, while his Orient House Ensemble has entered its second decade of continuous operation with an extensive tour of Europe and the CD, The Tide Has Changed. He also still tours with the Blockheads, and appeared here with another project, the Real Jazz quartet, which featured Frank.
Frank is a founder member of the OHE, a winner of the 'Young Jazz Competition' who also studied on the prestigious jazz course at Berklee, Boston USA. Yaron joined the OHE in 2002, and is also a classical virtuoso; his range of associations is therefore particularly wide, covering Pierre Boulez, Peter King, Nigel Kennedy and Robert Wyatt. A relative newcomer to the band, Eddie has already impressed on his appearances with Gilad; having studied drumming in Africa and on the Leeds College of Music course (with tutors including Lucky Ranku and Omar Puente), he's also performed with Tomorrow's Warriors.
