Ed Jones Quartet

Ed is one of the finest, hardest-blowing saxophonists the UK has ever produced; his all-too-rare visits have most recently been with the dynamic Killer Shrimp, the band he co-leads with Damon Brown. Beginning during the acid jazz craze, he had several excellent early line-ups, often featuring Jonathan Gee.

There are many other adventurous projects, such as the experimental outfit ed/ge with Geoff Wilkinson, producer of global dance jazz phenomenon Us3, in which Ed had a major role.

He has jazz connections in Scandinavian jazz, particularly Finland (with trumpeter Mika Myllari) and with Danish/Swedish group Stekpanna. He also tours regularly to Japan, where one collaboration is with Paul Jackson, bassist on many legendary Herbie Hancock and Headhunters recordings.

In his great new line-up is a pianist who has enjoyed a stratospheric rise, with regular appearances with the cream of UK jazz; Ross is a regular member of Jim Mullen's Organ Trio, and has played with Bobby Wellins, Liane Carroll, Clark Tracey, Dennis Rollins and Guy Barker. Further afield, he's worked with Simply Red, Goldie, Trevor Horn, Steve Howe, Deodato, Goldie and the Heritage Orchestra.

Riaan features in several highly-rated new bands, including his own Twelves Trio and Quartet, (which features Tim on drums) and larger groups such as Nostalgia 77's various ensembles. Tim, a precocious player in his teens with Hungry Ants, is now with many of the finest new bands such as Golden Age of Steam and Fraud.
